Solar Photography
Learn how to take Solar Photography quick and easy!
*Disclaimer, never look at the sun without the adequate eye protection as you can cause permanent eye damage.
Requirements:
- DSLR
- 200mm + Lens
- Tripod
- Solar Filter (if you don’t have one, learn how to make home made solar filter)
Many people think that because the sun is so big, if only they could take the glare away from the sun, they could take huge pictures of the sun. In reality, the sun when viewed from the earth, is exactly the same size as the moon and we need to adjust for that -otherwise eclipses wouldnt exist.
Grab a solar filter. If you don’t have one, buy one or make one.
If you want crisp pictures you must take the pic with your dslr mounted on a tripod.
Get comfortable, cover the lens with the solar filter, aim at the sun, move camera focus to infinity or just manually.
That’s it! Grab some sunglasses and start taking pictures. If you use Mylar, your pictures will look bluish metallic, adjust color temperature with a standard photo editing software towards yellow to bring back color
ps\I know its easy to stay starring at the sun, but try not to look at it for long period of time as it can cause eye damage.
