Sun Photography – Oct 25, 2011

This is my first attempt at solar photography. It was taken on Oct 25, 2011 before 9am. The Mylar filter i used made the picture metallic blue, so i used a standard photo editing software to move the color spectrum to yellow. The stuff around the sun are clouds. The dark round spot toward the right look like a planet passing by.

I will attempt more pictures in clearer skies and post.

What is DSLR?

So what is DSLR and what does it stand for?

DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex and it refers to digital cameras that use a mechanical mirror system and pentaprism to direct light from the lens to an optical viewfinder on the back of the camera.

The mirror reflects the light that comes through the lens at an angle of 90 degrees. The light gets reflected 3 times by the prism before the shutter opens, allowing the light with the image touch the sensor in the DSLR. After this happens, a second shutter covers the sensor while the camera lens resets the main shutter.
